The Objective -

Most of the content of this site is the work of others. I thank them, and acknowledge that what they may have considered of little value, except to themselves; once shared; can be of great interest to others!

"Excellent Kumegoose!! While my mother, great aunt, and second cousin, all natives of Kume Jima, were visiting, I showed them your site. They were all amazed and excited. It brought back many happy memories of their homeland…..The Matsumoto and Miyagi family ask that I write and thank you for sharing your photos and site with them, we've all enjoyed it. P.S. It's a small world after all!"

Vivian – from California.

I have  spoken with Asako; a lady who now lives in Florida. Asako was born and raised on Kume and remembers as a child; peering at the mysterious white ball on top of the mountain and asking the adults what it meant. She said that the pictures took her back to her childhood, and is sure she appears in some of them, as 'the Americans were always taking pictures of the children.' She was very excited to find this place on the net.

And of course; the veterans some of us are seeing new views of familiar places. Recalling times, and sharing stories from long ago. Some of us are renewing old friendships and making new ones.

If any of this evokes a pleasant memory or prompts a smile, we’ll consider the objective accomplished.

Thanks to our contributors, and welcome to everyone!
